High end country clubs do not pull punches when it comes to providing the best service and experience to their visitors and residents. When this club’s Technogym Recline Excite Recumbent Bikes started experiencing repeat breakdowns, I was encouraged to research ways to speed up the repair process or, what would it take to keep these up and running?

I prodded the customer service team at Technogym and it turns out the design of the bike has a flaw - if users pedal backwards they run the risk of inadvertently causing a one way bearing to loosen up. In turn, a copper disk will then start to grind against a solenoid that has but 1-2mm space on either side.

This was not a fun repair and the parts were expensive and take a little time to arrive.

Management of the gym asked me if I could recommend a better brand of recumbent bike taking in consideration the need for premium quality as well as the desire for affordable replacement parts that could be delivered very quickly when ordered. I responded with a vehement YES and installed a demo True Fitness RC900 with their Envision Full Touchscreen display.

The bikes can be found in many high end clubs, but the price is very fair. True’s customer service team is a joy to work with and their parts arrive to me in 3 days.

The club has really enjoyed the demo bike. They have decided to purchase this one and a few more.
