We Design Gyms -Big and Small- for Optimal Function and Aesthetics

95% of fitness centers are comprised of three fundamental training zones: Cardio, Strength, and Free Weights. Making smart decisions in regards to the location, size, and equipment selection for these zones will have a big impact on the usage your facility will receive.

Cramped and poorly laid out fitness centers feel uninviting or even unsafe, whereas a properly designed gym space will feel naturally inviting and keep your members inspired to come back.

What’s the primary goal?

Does your facility feel old and need to be updated? Does your fitness center have spaces that aren’t being used? Are you tired of your existing layout or creating a fitness center from scratch? The gym design process begins with an interview to understand the starting point and to uncover what your goals are.

What’s your target audience?

The folks who are going to be using your facility are ultimately the ones who will benefit from the design. For a lot of reasons it’s critical to design your fitness center to your target audience’s needs. For example:

An aging adult population will need extra wide walkways and brighter lights to create safe navigation through the facility. They will prefer more machines to an expanded free weight section and desire some physical therapy type equipment.

A young population is interested in hi fidelity music, ample free weights, and a diversified fleet of fresh cardio equipment. Faster WiFi is more important than touch-screen treadmill displays and multiple private bathrooms is preferable to a large open locker room.

What is in place in your existing facility?

There are some things that are harder to change when updating your facility. Commercial grade treadmills can draw 14Amps and so require a dedicated outlet to its own 20Amp circuit. This likely would already be pre-installed if you are updating an existing facility. Moving the location of the cardio zone becomes more expensive because it will require electrical work.
